The Old Vic is steeped in history; the connection is relevant to young people wanting to enter the arts, what a wonderful rostrum for them to begin at! This propelled many of us, influenced us and each one of us came away with something concrete. The OVYT meant so much to many us then kids who were from very working class families and backgrounds. This gave us young kids a focus; it took us off the streets and gave us something very worthwhile. We found identity and friendships; we learned tolerance, and above all discipline.
